Biography

How It All Started

A Johannesburg based award winning musician born and raised in, Esikhawini KZN. He credits his dad, a pastor and former choir master, for his passion for music. He is gifted in sporting potential and grooming it and believes in always raising the bar towards achieving Excellency in Worshiping God. Mthethwa is the Musical Director and producer of the formidable gospel group Joyous Celebration. He has also produced for Swazi Dlamini, Tshepo Mngoma, Khaya Mthethwa, Brenda Mtambo, Sfiso Khanyile to name a few.

One of his main career highlights includes playing for Kirk Franklin at the late Madiba’s memorial service. He has also had the pleasure of working with the legendary Themba Mkhize. He has appeared on national TV programmes such as I Want To Sing Gospel as musical director and he’s appeared in other TV shows such as Afro Cafe, and One Gospel.

Mthethwa is on the journey of pursuing his solo career, writing music that streams from his background, which includes gospel influences as well as jazz and African roots. He seeks to showcase himself as a pianist and arranger as well in his repertoire.

I have an award from the Crown Gospel Awards as best producer in 2019

Also my album won two awards at the Mzantsi Jazz Awards

I play piano majoring in gospel and jazz. I session for any artist that needs my services as pianist
I am a musical director, I arrange music and put together a presentation suitable for the artists brand
I produce music , I’ve produced gospel and jazz genres.
I teach music and piano, from kids as young as 6 years and older. I have an online website where you can subscribe and learn to play piano online called www.abcpiano.net
